History and Background

Richard S. Linton founded The Linton Group in 2001. By leveraging 19 years of systems administration, consultation, design, and implementation, The Linton Group has evolved into a Network Solutions firm that is focused on providing network services to their customers without the overhead that characterized the 'traditional' consulting firms of the Internet era.

Prior to founding The Linton Group, Mr. Linton served as Senior Systems Administrator with Incyte Genomics, where he was responsible for designing, implementing & maintaining a robust, high-availability cluster serving the needs of hundreds of gene sequencing machines, which uploaded data continuously day and night.

Mr. Linton's expertise with these systems resulted in a network that ran 24x7, 365 days a year, with no downtime and no data loss.

Prior to Incyte, Mr. Linton was Unix Systems Consultant and Lead Systems Administrator for both DHL Airways and DHL Systems, responsible for a wide variety of network systems projects. Mr. Linton played a significant role in designing, implementing & maintaining network practices & procedures in the conversion from x.25 to a Frame Relay Network between the U.S. offices of DHL.

This network of 3 core connectivity sites, 12 major shipping hubs and 10 to 15 remote sites per hub, once up & running, allowed DHL to implement all standard network & application services needed and, over time, greatly increased shipping speed and efficiency to the end customer.

His early career included an IS management position with Teknekron Communications Systems, software engineering projects for both Teredyne-Zehntel Systems and Hughes Aircraft Company, systems consultant work for MAL Associates and software design projects for Tomorrow Unlimited & Hughes Santa Barbara Research Center.

Mr. Linton is a graduate of U.C. Santa Barbara.
